Fast-forward to when I was about to complete middle school and had to decide which high school I wanted to attend. I knew deep in my heart that I wanted to be a writer, but when you come from an African family, that is not what you are expected to dream about. Your dream jobs should be a doctor, engineer, lawyer, and other stuff like that. So I decided to be “mature” about it and go for a course that will lead me to a realistic career. The course I chose was “Finance, Administration and Marketing”.
During those years I kept dreaming about writing, but obviously, I had to study.
Once I got my diploma, I moved to London to study... Law. Yep, once again I went to for the safe route, and although I enjoyed the course, I have told myself: “do not waste time thinking about writing. Write!”
And that’s when I started learning as much as possible about the craft of storytelling by watching Youtube videos (thank God for Authortube!), reading blogs about novel writing and joining Facebook groups to connect with like-minded people.
I am now proud to say, that I am writing a novel. There is a lot of hard work involved, but it is so fun and exciting, I just can’t wait to share my book with the world!
I started this blog to encourage people like me, who want to go from a story idea to a published book.
